Our People
Throughout the investigation, the CAC draws upon the expertise of a multidisciplinary team that consists of professionals from the Child Advocacy Center, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), local law enforcement, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, and professionals from the medical and mental health fields if needed.
Referrals to the Child Advocacy Center are made through DCFS and the local police department. A specially trained Case Manager is available to provide information and support to child victims and their non-offending family members. Initially, a Case Manager meets with the non-offending parents or guardian to gather additional information and to provide education about the effects of abuse and ways to protect the child from further abuse. Families work with the Case Manager to arrange counseling and to see if further services are needed while receiving ongoing support to help families recover.
